Important information for sending to outer islands
Residential/Rural/non-urban zone and Saturday deliveries
For all residential zone, rural/non-urban and Saturday deliveries you will need to select these additional services when you create the label from your ticketing system or attach an additional prepaid ticket per item (addresses can be checked by using the Address Checker tool on our website. For residential zone deliveries, allow until the end of the next working day for delivery. Rural/non-urban deliveries can take 2-3 days, and signatures may not be obtained. Saturday Delivery Fluro stickers should be applied to all Saturday Delivery items. If you send an item with a Saturday Delivery ticket to an area that does not receive Saturday deliveries, the item will be held and delivered on the next working day.
Maximum weight
The maximum weight that New Zealand Couriers can accept is 25kg. ‘Caution Heavy Item’ stickers must be applied to any item over 20kg for Health and Safety reasons (available by contacting 0800 800 841). For items over 20kg, the item's weight should be written on each box so that others are fully aware of the weight before lifting it. If you wish to send an item weighing more than 25kg, you must contact your local branch for pre-approval before sending it. If pre-approval is not gained, the pick-up courier may decline the collection, and there is no guarantee that the item will meet our service delivery standards.
If freight has insufficient tickets for size, weight, or destination, we will do our utmost to ensure it is delivered within our standard delivery times - however, to cover the costs of sending the item, an additional administration under-ticketing charge may be incurred.
The recommended weight allowance per express pack is 15kg.
Dangerous Goods
All Dangerous Goods items must have a correctly completed Dangerous Goods Declaration form and a prepaid DG ticket attached alongside the electronic ticket. All items must be packaged in accordance with legislative requirements for the particular class sent. Dangerous Goods cannot be sent in Express Packs.
Surcharges
In addition to the base price, Road User (RUC), Temporary Service Continuity (TSCS) and Variable Fuel Factor (VFF) surcharges apply. The government sets RUC and may be reviewed annually. TSCS was introduced to help cover a portion of any major unexpected costs, i.e. the Kaikoura earthquake. VFF is reviewed monthly and will be applied from the actual date you ordered the relevant product or service: base price + (base price x RUC) + (base price x TSCS) + (base price x VFF) = total price.
