GoSweetSpot: Dangerous Goods (DG) item charges

From Thursday 12 February 2026, electronic charges for Dangerous Goods (DG's) will be available in the GoSweetSpot ticketing system for items sent through New Zealand Couriers for customers who are approved to send DGs and have this functionality enabled.

The changes detailed below, may start appearing for customers using the GoSweetSpot ticketing system late in the afternoon on Wednesday 11 February 2026.

Electronic DG charges will also be available to customers using the GSS API from Thursday 12 February 2026

Once these changes take effect, senders should indicate which items contain DGs in the ‘Package’ section in GoSweetSpot (or via the GSS API), so the freight price includes the additional cost for sending DGs and prepaid DG Tickets do not need to be applied anymore.

Full or part books of DG prepaid tickets can be returned to the nearest New Zealand Couriers branch, to receive an account credit.

Please note that DG diamond labels and declaration paperwork continue to be a legal requirement for all items containing DGs.

DG Declaration tick box

The DG declaration tick box can be found in the ‘Packages’ section so senders can select which items in the consignment contain DGs.

Once items are ticked as containing DGs, the ‘Dangerous Goods Declaration’ section automatically appears further below on the screen, for the sender to complete.

In the example above, there are a total of 3 items in the consignment and a total of 2 contain DGs.

The DG items total will automatically populate in the Dangerous Goods Declaration section under ‘Total Quantity’.

A reminder that Dangerous Goods can only be sent in approved cartons or drums.

Dangerous Goods are not permitted to be packaged inside plastic satchels or e-packs

‘DG’ printed on the labels – apply to the items that contain DGs

When the labels are printed, ‘DG’ will show for the parcels which the sender ticked as containing DGs (based on the item part number i.e. 1/3, 2/3 using the earlier example).
